There are two groups of chargers for electric vehicles and in the near future we will see more new technologies come our way. Heavy duty chargers with faster charging times can be installed in the garage or driveway so the vehicle gets fed while left there. Also we can have a lighter charger permanently installed in the vehicle. Some cars already have a safety feature integrated that will not let you run the vehicle when it is plugged to a charger. If yours does not have it, it is a very easy thing to do. Hundreds of mishaps can be avoided just by installing a “Charging Relay” that will cut the power to the controller when the vehicle is in the recharge mode.
As time goes by, chargers will keep evolving. Shelby has developed a charging process for their electric cars that takes just a few minutes to replenish the charge. Also under development are some inductive chargers that you install on the floor of your parking spot and without contact recharge the batteries. It is the same principle of the tooth brushes bases that recharge the appliance without physical contact.
Here is an example of LHV Power supply...
When in the process of getting an external charger that may be more efficient or faster than the one originally installed in your car, make sure it is appropriate for the type of batteries that your EV uses. This is critical for the longer life and charge effectiveness of the batteries.
We will post here information on chargers and their technology advancements. Collaborations welcome!
